Barb Hanka: Our concert/program,
"Remembering Finn Hall" reflects our personal interest
and passion for our Finnish heritage, history, and culture, and
it resembles the historical Finn Hall programs of the past.We
often start by reading poetry, then continue with traditional
Finnish music sung in Finnish and English, accompanied by kanteles,
accordion, Sami drum, willow flute and birch bark flute. Our
children usually join us on stage to play their kanteles and
many other instruments and sing and dance as well. I also like
to include some of my original music which is inspired by my
family, Finnish heritage, Lake Superior and other environmental
topics.
