The trio of Cajsa Ekstav, Bo Larsson and Örjan
Englund is from Uppland, one of the richest folkmusic areas in
Sweden. They are lifelong friends and have played together in
many different places and settings. All three are distantly related
to each other and all three have deep roots in the "soil"
of Swedish folkmusic. This tradition of folk music and dance
rooted in the 1800s, has survived in spite of all the trends
and outside influences washing over the cultural landscape of
Uppland. Their music is still functioning as a driving engine
for people who have the desire in their bodies and souls to play,
sing and dance in the old way. This is truly a living tradition,
and these three musicians are some of the finest examples of
that Uppland tradition. Click on the images to learn more
about each of these fabulous musicians - then come and meet them
